Well it,s a new year and here we go again. Man I haven't posted nothing in a long time I guess I have been busy with life and just bored with this blog .I really don't know I loose interest in things very quickly . I guess its (ADD) .well any how happy new year! its another consumer electronic show going on right now and I haven't been interested in posting anything .I will tell you what I have done that I thought I would never do I installed the apple I-tunes on my pc..the only reason why is because of the free podcast you can subscribe to and download and view in quick time on the pc its great there are a crap load of podcast out there .I like the video podcast .you need to check out the new SYSTM video podcast ..Pretty cool .I also subscribe to diggnation video podcast also very cool�. Hey everyone sorry about the lack of posting but I’ve been in a slump, I have been focusing on finding another job the one I have now is getting on my nerves I have been there for 17 years I started at the young age of 19 years old . And I have had it. I need a change and an opportunity to make more money. I mean I do okay now but I am topped out under the circumstances .I want out of manufacturing I need to be able too use my talents in other venues .I will find something but it has to be the right something .I was thinking sales?? I would love to work in the pc industry but I did not go to school for any of this stuff. Wish I did, but I am self taught...I am good like that...LOL LOL just kidding! Bluetooth a Mile Away

Bluetooth is best known for short-range, low-bandwidth wireless jobs: connecting a cellphone with a headset or syncing a PDA with a nearby computer. But just as a flashlights reflector focuses a small bulbs light to make it appear brighter, the right antenna can boost a weak wireless signal. So detach the stock antenna from a Linksys USBBT100 Class 1 USB Bluetooth adapter ($70; linksys.com ) and replace it with a larger HyperGain RE05U 2.4GHz antenna ($15; hyperlinktech.com ). With that simple mod, you can make a Bluetooth connection up to a mile away-about 4,950 feet farther than most. Bandwidth isnt increased, so its not a Wi-Fi killer, but now you can connect to Bluetooth devices from anywhere in the house or yard.
Instructions

1. Use a flat screwdriver to gently pry apart the case along its seam [A].

2. Remove the electronics module [B] from the case.

3. Use a soldering iron to heat up the existing antenna cable [C], and gently pull it from the shield platform [D] and antenna feed-thru hole [E].

4. Press a desoldering braid against the circuit board to clear excess solder from the shield platform and hole.

5. Strip the rubber outer insulation [F] of the new coaxial cable.

6. Trim back the outer shield [G], leaving just enough to reach the shield platform.

7. Add a small amount of solder to the shield to make it semisolid.

8. Strip the cable again to expose the center conductor wire. Leave a little of the plastic insulating layer [H] between the shield and wire to prevent electrical shorts.

9. Insert the wire into the thru-hole, then bend it 90 degrees so that the shield rests on the shield pad.

10. Solder the shield to the pad. Dont let the iron linger too long or you could melt the insulating layer. If you dont get the solder applied within 30 seconds, wait a minute before trying again.

11. Flip the board over, and solder the center wire securely in the thru-hole [I].

12. Clip the excess wire poking through the hole.

13. Place the module back in the case, and reassemble the two halves. Use tie-straps, glue or tape to hold it together if needed.

Well this is the gadget of the week I guess !I found this very cool wireless internet for dial up .Now I never thought that some thing like this was out there but I find It very intriguing and very useful for the 56k crowd . For what ever reason you have dial up and not broadband you to can have a wireless connection with this product with a typical 802.11b adapter you can connect multiple pc to this router VIA dialup.

Students at Washington State University are collaborating with Microsoft to build free replacement for Paint, the quaint little image software that comes with Windows - and theyre doing a good job.

The result - called Paint.NET - includes image layer editing , red-eye removal, and a history window of actions as you edit. An extremely improved version of plain old Windows XP Paint (which,, sucks), the only downside of Paint.NET is that it requires you install Microsofts free but enormous .NET framework. Once thats over with, Paint.NET itself is a great free alternative to expensive image editing software for folks touching up digital photos. But its forWindows only you linux people will just have to stick with the gimp!!! That can also be used with windows.

I got to say wireless USB is a technology I can’t wait for I think it will be a great asset to the computing world. And its Version 1.0 specification was sent to the Wireless USB Promoter Group on April 1 for a 45 day review, were looking at a 480M bps (bits per second) transfer speed over distances of about three meters and it will work at lower speeds up to a distance of about 10 meters. Consumers can look forward to a handful of Wireless USB products appearing in shops in the U.S. by the end of this year, with many more products following in the first half of 2006 . Some are reporting that it was stolen then hacked, then others say she gave out her password and was violated bottom line is more personal pics have been hijacked from the sidekick and ....I got a hold of them ..Well nothing special but interesting just the same .They say phone numbers of her friends have been put out there also now that's pretty cool .Think about it all her friends are rich and famous. MyDoom Worm Spreads Via Search Engines

Latest variant finds e-mail address on your hard drive and on search engines.
Internet users are being threatened by yet another variant of the MyDoom mass mailing worm, which is spreading in part by using e-mail addresses found through popular search engines, security experts warn.

The new variant was first spotted late Wednesday and reports from computer users suggest the worm is already circling the globe, according to Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos.

The worm proliferates by e-mailing itself through its own SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) engine, according to Sophos. When it infects a computer it scans the hard disk for e-mail addresses and then takes the domains of the addresses it finds and queries search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Lycos looking for similar addresses, Cluley says.

If it finds the address JohnDoe@yahoo.com, for instance, it will use a search engine to look for other addresses at the yahoo.com domain to send itself to, Cluley explains.

Similar Spread

A similar MyDoom variant appeared last July and managed to slow some search engines as it flooded them with queries.

Cluley says he doubts the new variant will have the same effect since this outbreak is not as severe. Additionally, search engines have taken measures to prevent being crippled by the worm again, Cluley says.

The latest worm was created by repackaging an older MyDoom variant in an encrypted "wrapper" so that antivirus software could not recognize it, Cluley says. The method is just one of the clever ways hackers use to hide their attacks and antivirus firms should be aware of the ruse, he adds.

Internet users should make sure their antivirus software is up to date to avoid infection.

A Trojan has hit Microsoft's AntiSpyware (Beta), which disables it, and steals banking details login Ids and passwords.

Trojans or "Trojan horse" is a type of program that allows other people to access your machine (generally for malicious purposes) over the Internet.

Trojans cannot propagate themselves like a virus. You have to download an application or the server exe file, which is usually sent in an e-mail message.

The email message will promise you something good and would prompt you to download and installs the exe attachment. This is why it is called a Trojan horse -- you have to consciously or unconsciously run the EXE to install the server side on your computer. Once this is done then criminals who had designed the Trojan can remotely manipulate your computer.

The password stealing Troj/BankAsh-A Trojan, discovered yesterday, is a spyware. It keeps a track of user activities on the computer. It spies on you.

If you happen to visit any of the online bank accounts of Barclays, Cahoot, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, Nationwide, NatWest, and Smile, then it starts recording your keystrokes. This way it steals your login ids and passwords. The Trojan then sends the details on a remote FTP. Trojan makers can then use those details to steal your money from your bank accounts.

The Trojan also disables Microsoft AntiSpyware, currently available only as a beta download. It deletes all files within the folder named C:Program FilesMicrosoft AntiSpyware. The Trojan also removes important entries of the antispyware in the registry and thus literal kills the antispyware.

Microsoft Antispyware is still in its Beta version (experimental version). Over a period of time software developers will know the flaws in the antispyware and would hopefully rectify them.

Citiwide MP4-010: Portable media player with removable drive

With hard drives continuing to come down in both price and size, it was only a matter of time before someone came up with a portable media player that would allow you to pop drives in and out as easily as you swap flash cards in a digital camera. From the looks of it, Hong Kongs Citiwide Technologies has done the deed, though their MP4-010 looks like an OEM job waiting for a customer to put a brand name on it. While I am not keen on the idea of having to carry extra drives around to enjoy my video library (it sort of negates some of the convenience of a PMP over a portable DVD player), until we see a terabyte 2.5 drive, something like this could be a good option for those of us with lots of audio and video to take on the road. But it is still a very cool gadget !!

"Every techie says that you shouldn't use other people's networks without permission. Every techie I know does it anyway. If you're going to steal-no let's say borrow your neighbor's Wi-Fi access, you might as well do it right. Step one: Lose the guilt. I don't know of any federal or state laws that make it illegal to log on to an open network. Using someone's connection to check your e-mail isn't like hacking into their bank account. It's more like you're borrowing a cup of sugar. (so to speak !)

basically, it's your neighbor's Internet service provider-not your neighbor-who will pay for the added traffic, It is true that your surfing could cause the folks next door to break their service contract-many broadband providers do specifically forbid home customers from sharing a connection. But let's deal with those another time..I think I might have to go into details later about this subject and talk about the tools for the job in order to check the security of your own network .I think everyone should be aware there are tools out there to compromise your network and you need to understand them in order to protect your self! Well I just wanted to rant.............LATER!!!!!!
